Trucklink EU Putting Safety First with AddSecure’s 'Breathalock' Solution

Trucklink EU have further increased it's recent investment into driver safety initiatives by teaming up with AddSecure and adopting their industry leading integrated alcohol breathalyser immobilisation & reporting system. The Anti-Drink-Driving technology has been installed onto the entire Trucklink fleet.

How does the device work?

The CX-TAB is hardwired into the vehicle’s ignition system and requires drivers to blow a breath sample into the device. If they get a pass result, the technology will allow them to start up the vehicle and get on with their journey. If they fail, the engine will be immobilised. Also, an alert will be sent to the fleet manager via an email or SMS.

The CX-TAB features Electronic Counter Circumvention Measures (ECCM). This means it can tell the difference between a mechanically simulated breath sample, and a human one (accurate by +/- 0.005% BrAC). Furthermore, the technology is integrated with our driver-facing cameras to validate who provided the breath sample.

With this solution being integrated with our other telematics we gain valuable insight into what is happening out on the road with our team. It also adds an extra layer to our driver performance data, highlighting when we need to step in or have a debrief with a driver. Furthermore, preventing anyone in our team from getting behind the wheel with alcohol in their system can save lives and prevent accidents.

Paul Whelan, Depot Manager, commented:

We have fitted the alcohol lock ignition system to all of our vehicles as part of our safety drive. As an operator of a fleet of LGV’s the safety of both our staff and the general public is our first priority.”

This investment is yet another important development in Trucklink’s pursuit of ultimate driver safety, performance and efficiency.
